Welcoming | My Peace (As we return to our seats.) | Rev. Christine Dickerson |
God, you are a great God, giver of laws and giver of love, a guiding hand that reaches from infinity and into our hearts and minds. Through your Spirit, we can grow to understand our meaning in this life and, with grace, a life beyond our vessels of clay. How blessed we are, and yet we fail to understand the vast generosity that binds us to you through your son, you son who gave all for us. Forgive our small thinking! Release us from our prisons of shame and ego! Create in us a clean heart waiting to be filled by the fullness that is you. We boldly ask in Jesus' name, Amen. |

Life of the Church | Special Music | Deacon Pauline Gregg |
Hear the Good News! Who is in a position to condemn? Only Christ, and Christ died for us, Christ rose for us, Christ reigns in power for us, Christ prays for us. Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation. The old life has gone; a new life has begun. Know you are forgiven and be at peace. Amen. |

Passing of the Peace | Love Divine, All Loves Excelling | Congregation |
Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. |
||
Prelude | Gloria Patri | Praise Band |
Guide us, O God, by your Word and Spirit, that in your light we may see light, in your truth find freedom, and in your will discover your peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. |

* Call to Worship One: The heavens declare the glory of God; Many: the skies proclaim the work of his hands. One: Their voice goes out onto all the earth, ALL: their words to the ends of the world! | This Little Light of Mine | Hymn #92 (1, 2) |
. |
||
* Opening Hymn | Hear Us, O Lord | Hymn #623 |
We trust in God the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life. The Spirit justifies us by grace through faith, sets us free to accept ourselves and to love God and neighbor, and binds us together with all believers in the one body of Christ, the Church. In a broken and fearful world the Spirit gives us courage to pray without ceasing, to witness among all peoples to Christ as Lord and Savior, and to work with others for justice, freedom and peace. |
