Welcoming | My Peace (As we return to our seats.) | Rev. Don Williamson |
Gracious God, on this day when many welcomed Jesus into their city and hailed him as the Savior, it is fitting that we join them, welcoming him into our lives. But we are hesitant. We know he asks much of us. And we want so much to control our own lives, follow our own dreams, be as we want to be. Forgive our self-centeredness, and open us more to the ways and attitudes of Jesus. For we pray it in his name. Amen. |

Life of the Church | The Palms | Elder John Evans |
Who is in a position to condemn? Only Christ, and Christ died for us, was risen for us, and reigns in power over us, Sisters and brothers hear this good news. Through Christ we are forgiven and reconciled with the Creator of all. |
||
Passing of the Peace | Hosanna, Loud Hosanna | Congregation |
Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. |
||
Prelude | Gloria Patri | Praise Band |
Lord, open our hearts and minds by the power of your Holy Spirit, that as the Scriptures are read and your Word is proclaimed, we may hear with joy what you say to us today. Amen |

* Call to Worship One: We are here today to worship God; All: To remember that on this day Jesus was welcomed into the city of Jerusalem. One: With palm branches and singing the people greeted Jesus, chanting... All: “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord.” One: God's kingdom is breaking in upon us, and the one who brings it rides a lowly donkey, he has the hands of a servant. All: God's kingdom is coming! Let us open the gates of our hearts and minds. Let us sing in praise of the king who comes! | Fairest Lord Jesus | Elder John Evans |
One: We leave this place of worship thankful for the many who, on this day long ago, recognized Jesus as the Messiah, the Christ. All: We leave lamenting that some soon fell away. One: But we leave vowing that we shall not. Jesus is, and will be for us our Lord and Savior. All: And our vision of God's kingdom shall not be dimmed. Amen! |
