Welcoming | My Peace (As we return to our seats.) | Rev. Christine Dickerson |
Leader: Last Sunday the candle of Love was lit. We light it and the candles of hope, and peace again as we remember that Christ will come again and bring to the world everlasting peace. The 4th Candle of Advent is the Candle of Joy. It reminds us of the joy that Mary felt when the angel Gabriel told her that a special child would be born to her – a child who would save and deliver his people. People: God wants us all to have joy. The angel who announced to the shepherds that Jesus had been born told them: “Do not be afraid. I am bringing you good news of great joy for all people for to you is born this day, in the City of David, a Saviour, who is the Messiah, the Lord.†Leader: We light this candle to remember that Christ brings the promise of a new life – a life in which the blind receive sight, the lame walk and the prisoners are set free. We light it to remember that He is the bringer of true and everlasting joy. People: Jesus said: “I am the light of the world – he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.†Leader: Let us pray: Loving God, we thank you for the joy you bring us. Help us prepare our hearts for this gift. Bless our worship, help us to hear and do your word. We ask it in the name of the one born in Beth |

Life of the Church | What Child Is This? | Elder Morella Larsen |
Creator of all, we receive your blessing and the promise of rebirth with joy and gladness! We sing to you for the mystery of life and victory over death. We surrender to your light in Jesus’ name. Why then do we worry? What makes us feel sorrow and regret? Release us, we pray, from the prison of doubt. Replace our weakness with your strength. Make us whole, we pray O God, for we are yours in Christ. Ame |

Passing of the Peace | Angels, from the Realms of Glory | Congregation |
Who is in a position to condemn? Only Christ, and Christ died for us, was risen for us, and reigns in power over us. Sisters and brothers hear this good news. Through Christ we are forgiven and reconciled with the Creator of all. |

Prelude | It Came Upon The Midnight Clear | Praise Band |
Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. |
