One: The Sovereign God tenderly cares of us

One: Merciful God, you call us to be still and know that you are God, yet we confess that our hearts are often restless, distracted by our worries and fears.
All: Forgive us, O God, for the times we have sought refuge in the things of this world, rather than in your steadfast love.
One: You invite us to lay our burdens at your feet, but we often choose to carry them ourselves, doubting your power and grace.
All: Forgive us, O God, for the ways we have let our faith waver and for the times we have turned away from your presence.
One: You lead us in the path of life, yet we stray from it, choosing our own ways instead of following you.
All: In your mercy, hear our prayers and forgive us, O God. Amen.

One:

Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

All: Loving God, as we open your Word, we pray that your Holy Spirit will guide and inspire us. Help us to see Jesus more clearly and take to heart the truth he brings us. For it is in his name that we pray, amen.
