Open our hearts and minds, O Lord, to receive your Word. Silence in us any thoughts that are not your own that we might hear the word of life you have for us today. AMEN.

P: RAIN UPON OUR DRY AND DUSTY LIVES.
L: Kindle within us the fire of your love,
P: BURN AWAY OUR APATHY AND GUIDE OUR WANDERING STEPS.

Almighty God, you poured your Spirit upon gathered disciples creating bold tongues, open ears, and a new community of faith. We confess that we hold back the force of your Spirit among us. We do not listen for your word of grace or speak the good news of your love. Have mercy on us, O God. Transform our timid lives and fill us with a flaming desire to be your faithful people who do your will for the sake of Jesus our Lord. AMEN.

Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
